GrindDialog 2023: Retrospective

GrindDialog 2023 shifted the discourse further into depth. The focus was no longer primarily on the interaction of existing systems, but on the question of their underlying assumptions. Current developments in grinding processes, digitalization, tool concepts, and process assistance were not only observed, but critically examined.

The Examining Impulse

Existing assumptions were deliberately questioned. Not to replace them, but to test their validity under new requirements. What had been considered secure was brought back into discussion.

The Shift in Dialogue

Contributions from universities, research institutions, and industry made it clear how strongly grinding technology is evolving — not only technologically, but also methodologically. Simulation, assistance systems, and new material requirements were not considered in isolation, but in terms of their impact on the overall process. The dialogue shifted: away from the solution itself towards the structures that enable it.

The Changed Impact

GrindDialog 2023 reinforced its role as a place where knowledge is not only conveyed, but examined, reflected, and further developed.  From solutions back to their underlying assumptions.
